Greetings
The number of foreign visitors to Japan has been steadily increasing since the end of the COVID-19 pandemic.
When introducing Japanese culture and traditions to visitors, many people might wonder where to start.
Kabuki, geisha, Mount Fuji, sumo, or something else?
Sumo has recently gained popularity to the extent that tickets for live matches are now sold by lottery.
Moreover, watching sumo training sessions can be somewhat intimidating for first time foreign visitors.
Training stables are where sumo wrestlers engage in rigorous practice.
Even a brief visit to a training session can be quite challenging for foreigners due to various customs, such as strict no-talking, no-eating rules, and the prohibition of video recording, although photography is allowed.
Additionally, visitors are required to sit in a traditional seating area for over an hour, sometimes up to three hours.
At “Asakusa Sumo Stable,” we have introduced a “sumo show” to make it easier and more enjoyable for foreign visitors to experience sumo, while still providing an authentic glimpse into this traditional sport.
We are committed to creating an environment where people can appreciate Japanese culture in a relaxed and engaging manner, and we will continue to strive to improve our offerings.

About Our Chanko
Enjoy authentic “Chanko” prepared with carefully selected ingredients by our head chef.
The essence of Chanko lies in the meticulous selection of each ingredient, which is our restaurant’s commitment.
Our Chanko is a “special soy sauce Chanko hot pot” supervised by a former sumo wrestler. It features a blend of four types of dashi: Chicken, bonito, kelp, and shiitake mushrooms, resulting in a light yet rich flavor that remains delicious from the hot pot through to the final course.
