Kyoto Sumo Club is a sumo experience restaurant located in Kyoto, Japan.

Since opening in December 2025, we have been honored to receive high ratings and warm support from travelers from all over the world, and we are happily open and operating every day.

Sumo is one of Japan’s most important traditional cultures and its national sport.
Loved by Japanese people for centuries, sumo has a long and rich history that continues to this day.
In modern times, it has become a sport enjoyed not only in Japan but around the world.

Although the rules of sumo are simple, the sport is deeply rooted in unique Japanese traditions and customs, which may feel unfamiliar to those new to Japanese culture.
With the recent boom in sumo’s popularity, tickets to official tournaments have become extremely difficult to obtain, making live sumo matches feel out of reach for many visitors to Japan.

We wanted to change that.

At Kyoto Sumo Club, we aim to make sumo more accessible and enjoyable for everyone — whether you already love sumo or are discovering it for the first time.

Our restaurant offers an interactive experience where guests can enjoy traditional Japanese food and drinks while learning about sumo in a fun and engaging way.

The entire program is conducted in easy-to-understand English, introducing the history, rules, and cultural background of sumo.
Demonstrations by former professional sumo wrestlers are sometimes humorous, sometimes intense, and always impressive.
Guests can even step onto the ring themselves and take part in a Sumo Challenge, making it an exciting experience for both adults and children.

日本の伝統文化、国技である相撲。

相撲は、日本人に昔から愛され現代まで続く歴史ある国技です。
現在では、日本のみならず世界中の方に愛されるスポーツになったといっても過言ではありません。
シンプルなルールではあるものの、日本独自の文化が数多く取り入れられている相撲は、日本人以外の方には少し特異なものに見えるかもしれません。
近年の相撲ブームに伴い、本場所のチケットはプレミアがつくほどになっており、来日観光客の方には少し敷居が高く感じられることもあるようです。

私たちは、相撲のことを詳しく知っている人も、あまり知らない人も、もっと相撲を身近なものにできないかと考えました。

京都相撲部屋は、日本の文化的な食事やお酒を楽しみながら、楽しく学べる体験型レストランになっています。

全編英語で、分かりやすく相撲の歴史や、ルールなどをご案内。
現役を引退した力士によるでモンストレーションは、時にコミカルに、真剣に。
実際に土俵に上がっての力士と対戦するチャレンジ相撲は、大人も子供も楽しめる内容になっています。
